Enniskillen has totally embraced the vision of Enniskillen BID to energise the walls with street art.  Within the space of 12 months Enniskillen BID have worked with four talented artists on five mural commissions.  Joining the Happy Prince on Water Street, Ted Hastings on Charlies Wall and the colourful Pike and Magpie murals at Joe the Bakers stall, this week saw the emergence of the biggest mural to date to the rear of the Crows Nest. 

Local artist Kevin McHugh worked his artist magic to create the Enniskillen fisherman mural, standing three stories high with the majestic brown trout as the focal point.   Kevin comments that ‘this was such an exciting commission, Feargal (Crows Nest Manager) provided me with the fisherman theme and I took great advice from other fishing enthusiasts for accurate portrayal of the scene,  I wanted it to look like an old style postcard and I am delighted with the end result.” 

Noelle, Manager of Enniskillen BID,  applauded Kevin on a fantastic result especially as he fought against the rain and wind at the start of the week noting that Kevin had to redo a number of elements as the rain just washed some work away!  Noelle stated “The murals have been an instant hit with the local business community, who fund this project, and the general public who are already asking for more as it brightens up our town centre.  The concept behind the project was to have another reason for people to come into town and explore and it really has achieved this, in such a short period of time.”  Enniskillen BID confirmed that they have more walls put forward by businesses in town and are looking for other themes to develop more amazing street art.   So it will be an exciting summer in Enniskillen as we see other walls coming to life!
