A Day in the life of the Enniskillen Gift card

| sugarprojects

Having heard many great things about the Enniskillen Gift Card, I was over the moon when I received one as a gift myself.

Unlike other gift cards that are specific to one particular shop, I discovered that the Enniskillen Gift Card is redeemable in over 110 local businesses across Enniskillen town, making it much more versatile. I was excited to put this to the test and spent a day exploring Enniskillen through its vast range of local shops, restaurants and cultural activities using the Enniskillen Gift Card as my only method of payment along the way.

Wanting to start my day off with some light exercise, I was delighted to see that the Lakeland Forum was listed as one of the places that I could use my Enniskillen Gift Card. As I picked up some essentials from Dolan’s Centra en route, I was pleased to find that I could use the Gift Card for even the smallest of purchases such as a bottle of water and even a packet of chewing gum. With a simple swipe of the Card I was on my way. After a leisurely swim, I met a friend for a cup of tea and a scone at Café Mauds and was again able to use my Gift Card for this.

Following my morning cuppa, I was keen to do a spot of shopping. As I had planned to go to the theatre that evening, I quite fancied finding something new to wear. Wandering along the streets of Enniskillen, I was surprised to find that more shops than I had originally expected were accepting the Enniskillen Gift Card. After much deliberation I ended up settling on a patterned top from SD Kells, a pair of silver earrings from Erne Pharmacy’s jewellery collection and a nail varnish from Corry’s Pharmacy, all purchased using the Enniskillen Gift Card. The Buttermarket was my next port of call as I always enjoy browsing the windows of the artist studios, workshops and boutiques there. I stopped off at The Natural Beauty Pot and picked up a beautiful set of bath treats using the Gift Card.

By this stage I was all shopped out and ready for a big lunch to restore my energy. No better place for this than Taco Loco with its generously- sized (and delicious) build-your-own Mexican plates. I chose the taco option and was not disappointed! After eating my weight in tacos (almost) I decided to go visit Enniskillen Castle to add some culture to my day. Once again it was just a matter of swiping the Gift Card at the Welcome Desk and I was free to explore the galleries, museums and grounds at my own leisure.

After a busy day about town, I had just as busy an evening planned with the Enniskillen Gift Card. Donned in my day’s purchases, I was ready for a night out. My first stop of the evening was Blakes of the Hollow where I enjoyed a Boatyard gin and tonic followed by a light bite to eat at The Crowes Nest. I ended my day at the Ardhowen theatre for the Enniskillen Amateur Dramatics Society’s hilarious rendition of ‘The Odd Couple’ play, which perfectly rounded up a whole evening’s entertainment thanks to the Enniskillen Gift Card.

My challenge to spend a day using the Enniskillen Gift Card as my only method of payment was easier than I expected thanks to the lack of fuss whilst making transactions and the variety of local businesses in association with it. From swimming to eating out to shopping to the theatre, the opportunities for using the Enniskillen Gift Card are truly endless making it the gift that just keeps on giving!
